No Sandberg, Dawson, Sutter, Lee Smith - do I watch the same sport as these voters who are alledgedly more informed than I?

And yet people think we should just let them decide who is the best in college football...

Let me see...vote in Eckersley, but leave out three guys that revolutionized the position he played (closer). I'm confused.

7. Molitor had 2400 hits. Sandberg did not and IMO had 2 great seasons

but the rest was as a above average player. He's no match to Molitor. Look at the numbers and how many world series each of them has been in.

16. Molitor is that much better

While both deserve to in the HOF, Molitor was the better player. Espn.com had a great article about Molitor by Jim Caple, including a jab at the HOF for being notoriously Republican.

6. I'm still peeved Davey Concepcion hasn't been put in the HOF

He was one of the most outstanding shortstops of his era, a golden glove winner and a member of the Big Red Machine.

I'd just like to see Davey get in with the other Big Red Machine HOFers - Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan and Sparky Anderson (and eventually Pete Rose - who would have been there ages ago)

At least he's still getting the 5% needed to stay on the ballot. I can see him getting in when he moves to the Veteran's section list (which is after your name has appeared like 15 times on the ballot)

10. I think its time to modify the Baseball Hall of Fame

This is my plan; tell me what you think.

Divide the Hall of Fame into two sub-halls: Elite and Standard (or whatever you want to call 'em).

The Elite Hall would be where guys like Ruth, Cobb, Dimaggio, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, etc. would go. The best of the best. The absolutely unquestioned best players of all time.

The other Hall, the Standard Hall, would be where all the other guys go. That way, Molitor goes to the Standard Hall and you could make a good argument for Eckersley to make the Elite Hall.

Anyway, that's my idea and I'm stickin' to it.
