I'm on an endless mission for a new swimsuit, and I rather like it, but it's hard to picture what it would look like irl, since I'm just looking at it on a website. What do you think?

10. Lol!
I once had an admittedly dowdy pink swimsuit with a skirt on it, and a friend of mine laughed her ass off at me.
It was the only one I could find halfway through the season on the clearance rack at Target, and I wanted to go swimming!

there's no straps on that halter. I'm afraid if you raise your arms in that you'd be, er, *showing off*!

16. Not good to swim in
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 11:58 PM by in search of sanity
The two top part is not frumpy but it looks uncomfortable and I think you would be inhibited from stretching your arms as you swim, out of fear your breasts would pop out. As for the bottom, the skirt looks restrictive for swimming. If you're modest, what about getting a two piece with a long top and boycut pants. You can add a sarong skirt to it if you're not actually swimming.

On edit: here's a link to LandsEnd for swimsuits. You can mix and match 2 piece suits. http://www.landsend.com/cd/index/fp/0,,66079,00.html?sid=4692184979154136050

21. If I weren't so active at the beach, I would
(And if I didn't have post-nursing boobs, LOL.) Mostly I wouldn't because I like to run, jump, dig around in the sand with the kiddo, swim, make an ass out of myself trying to boogie board...

I think if you can pull off the look, it won't look frumpy. I'd say it's all about confidence and demeanor, and feeling comfortable with yourself! :)

23. I think it looks like it's made out of someone's comforter.
Also, the frump factor goes way up if you remove the tan, the long blonde hair, the belt and the necklaces. Even with all that, I've certainly seen prettier swim wear.

You can do better!

25. i'm very much 'less is more,' and this 'swimsuit' is far too busy.
the model is beautiful, by the way. but judging things by how they look on models is a horrible way to choose things. also, do you intend to actually swim with this swimsuit? because i don't think this one is truly meant for it. in fact, it looks like a strong wave away from a wardrobe malfunction. though there might be fasteners underneath to keep it from slipping off like a poorly tied sarong in a riptide. it's hard to go by the picture alone.

35. strapless bathing suit tops can be very difficult...
even if you're just hanging out with the kids, one strenuous stretch to grab Kid X,Y, or Z (I'm sorry, I only remember Jack's name!) and the whole top might just roll down.

Do they have other tankinis? I'm with you - don't really want a bikini, but don't like the feel of all-over tummy coverage from one pieces, which is why tankinis are so nice. Do you specifically want rear coverage? You could always look for a boy-cut short with tankini top. I hate boy-cuts, they NEVER fit me very well, but some people love them.

You're gorgeous. Go for something with a little more zing.

This suit is all the rage for surfing Muslim women in Australia:

44. That suit is designed to flatter a figure
which is significantly hour-glass in nature. It would be flattering even on a slightly overweight woman as long as she has definite curves.

If your figure is straighter, rounder (more like an apple than an hourglass), or if you have either a bust or hips which are substantially larger than the other, it would not flatter and might actually call attention to an area you'd wish to minimise.
