18. That is so awesome. It feels great doesn't it?
I'm making a final payment toward a debt at the end of this month. After that I am debt free. Plus, I own my car...no payments. I have NO credit cards.

So congratulations! I am happy for you!

23. We've had car payments ever since we got married (10 years this year);
my long-owned Cavalier bit the dust right before our wedding day.

We've either had one or two car payments at all times, so we're glad to be having no car payments at all!

It's nice not having that payment over your head. When my nearly-paid for car was totaled, I took the insurance money, added a couple thousand that I just happened to have laying around (OK, scraped together) and bought a good used car - it's nice not having to pay for anything other than routine maintenance and gas. (edited because I decided to spell it "gass")

25. What does one do for such an occasion?
Put the note under the right rear tire and have a different kind of mortgage burning? :bounce:

26. I paid off my car last May....
Edited on Fri Jan-19-07 09:20 PM by greatauntoftriplets
The downside is that I also purchased a condominium the previous month and now have a mortgage. The upside is that I made a 75 percent downpayment, so the mortgage is not enormous.

Yet, this is the largest debt I have ever had in my life. Damn scary.

On edit: Where ta hell are my manners??? Congratulations on paying off two cars in a week.

28. Congrats, Left Is Write. I'm happy for you.
My car was paid off last November, but we still have a year to go on my wife's car.

And it strikes me as very convenient that once my car was paid off, the local Chrysler dealership started recommending some very expensive maintenance and repair work for it. Hmm... :wtf:
