i saw two yuppies (mommy and daddy)
dad was pushing some kind of 400 dollar ergonomically efficient baby stroller.

they were both jogging. i was nearing the 3.0 mi marker on my sunday walk and they were in the opposing lane of the walkway.

the dad was berating the mom. he was berating her like she was an employee though, using corporatespeak to chastise this poor woman. like he was in a meeting or something.

on the way back he passed me up.

she passed me up about 3 minutes later.

1. Let me guess....
yuppies....jogging trail...small child-somewhere near Memorial Park or Montrose? Probably a couple that has bought one of those atrocious condos that seem to line every conceivable inch of the bayou from Sabine to Mem Park.

3. Huh.
I didn't think the yuppies liked to leave the "trendyness" of downtown these days. Good. Gives me hope that won't completely invade my favorite part of town.

4. the youthful ones
who probably haven't been anywhere else still tend to cling to the newly built inner loop areas. these are the one who think they are the "bee's knees" because they live inside the loop.

washington has pretty much lost any ethnic flavor. what they call "midtown" (or what used to be a small vietnam-town) directly south of downtown has lots of young hipster types and professionals.

west/katy/spring branch: older yups, families - nice houses pockmarked with many pocket ghettoes.

spring branch is really on the downslide, although the very stable older subdivisions are still very nice, in some cases, they've even fenced off city streets to keep out the rabble.

5. SB, really?
That's where I grew up-all SBISD schools. My friend now teaches at Spring Woods-she hasn't said anything about it getting bad. That sucks. For the 'burbs it wasn't a bad place to grow up.
