I say yes.

Bare in mind that I am asking this question in relation to a woman who once said that she was attracted to Rick Moranis.

:puke:

...She would like me to point out that she is hot, which is definitely true. :loveya:

1. Not necessarily
Sometimes opposites do attract. But more often than not, in my experience, I bond to people who are like me--that is, a very big dorky girl:o

Luckily, I have another geek that loves me for who I am.

2. I think that people are generally attracted to people a lot like themselves.
So, it probably does make it more likely you're a geek, but I don't think you have to be a geek to appreciate geeks. While I don't find Rick Moranis attractive, I had to laugh because I'm always attracted to the offbeat guys that aren't considered traditionally hunky at all. My hollywood crushes always tend toward the character actors and lesser known supporting actors. No Matthew McCaunghahowevryouspellhisnamehays or Brad Pitts for me. Though George Clooney isn't half bad.

:)

Seriously I was once told by a guy that I reminded him of Rick Moranis. Never ever heard that one before or since.

I like quirky liberal feminist type women. Garafalo isn't exactly a stunning model type but damn, I think that woman is hot! So I think you may be right, to an extent we are attracted to people similar to ourselves.

12. My husband likes her, too.
There's definitely a bit of the geek about him. I think there's something to that little theory :)

3. No. Attraction to X does not make you X...:)
If so, all heterosexual males would be females and vice versa!

4. i knew someone that dated rick moranis
and she wasn't geeky at all. You don't have to be a geek to be attracted to geeks.

5. It doesn't make a person a geek.
Odds are that the person was a geek before the attraction too.

Of course it rubs off -- how else to explain how many of us there are?

14. Hell no - you have to earn geekhood
Just liking a guy/gal who has forgotten more unix than you will ever know does not allow you entrance into our club. Get on your knees and start wiring up your home network, and while you're down there, start reciting the hit dice of every entry in the original Monster Manual. If you manage that, you then have to present and defend your choice: Kirk or Picard (hint - bring video to support your argument). If you get that far, your application may be submitted. You will learn of our decision in four to six weeks. Be prepared to translate it from binary.

Excelsior!

17. I would say that for every rule there is an exception
so whether your rule is valid or not, it won't be valid in all cases.
