I came here a couple of years ago because I had heard about DU on Rush Limbaugh's show. I wanted to see what a bunch of reactionaries, and hypocrites you guys were.

I needed an anonymous user name, and couldn't think of one I liked, so I just used the brand name of the computer monitor in front of me (KDSUSA).

I learned a lot since then (mostly here), and have changed a lot of attitudes I once held. This month I voted Democrat in a national election for the first time in my life, and feel like I can never vote Republican again.

Just stumbled in on a link from maybe DailyKos. Singned up and contributed to the Fund Drive that very first day.

I was astounded at the network here, and during that storm and since I felt so glad to bea able to catch so much breaking news, links to everything, and some wonderful discussions and people. I haven't logged on since then without at least doing a check, but usually spending hours/day.
After a year+ of never knowing about The Lounge, I found it a few months ago...the addition of that to the rest of DU made things r e a l l y get interesting!

I seem to recall signing up in the summer or Fall of 2001, but maybe that was under my first (long-lost) user name that I tried and promptly misplaced. It's kind of weird and bothers me disproportionate to its actual import, because a potential two year discrepancy between what I remember and what may well have actually been is a tad extreme. Like many, I read this forum for quite a long time before I signed up, anyway.
