join me in posting your thoughts on this Christmas Eve
I'm singing the Karen Carpenter song in my head...

merry Christmas, darling
we're apart, that's true
but I can dream, and in my dreams
I'm Christmasing with you....

i have one wish on this Christmas Eve --

I wish I were with you

When I left home to make a life w/ Mrs. Venation I knew I would miss my sisters. I didn't know it would be this bad, though. I'm hurting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What are your thoughts tonight? Grinches & non-celebrators welcome.
1. Well it would kind of be nice, if we're going to have a big commercial
celebration for the holidays to have all the peace that the prince some celebrate on this date promises...unfortunately the vote by this bloc has been for endless war.
Sorry about you missing your family.....but hope your holiday is filled with your love for them rather than the missing part.
BTW...I haven't told my favorite Christmas joke yet so I'll do it on this thread...
Tonight...while all you Christians are sitting around the tree singing Christmas carols.....all the member of my tribe will be gathered around our cash registers singing "what a friend we have in Jesus!" :D (fellow Jews....don't worry if you hate that joke...my father told it to me every year when he was alive but my mom still gets mad at me for telling it :evilgrin: )
Thanks for the laugh.
Here's mine. My sister carries this year-round on a business-sized card in her wallet.
money's short
times are hard
here's your fucking Christmas card
(PS thanks. Yes, there is much, much love. We'll be on the phone twenty times tonight & tomorrow.)
3. Thoughts of peace
and strains of Bach wafting through my head. The trees, "bare ruin'd choirs where late the sweet birds sang" stand silently and the skies blue turned to purple and black. I won't listen to the news. I'll soak up the peace and wisdom of the forest.
5. I miss my son........
He's on the west coast.....my daughter has her own little family and they're at her in-laws.My husband is the music director at a local church, so he's gone until about 1:30AM. I'm a heathen, so I'm all by my lonesome. I was thinking last night about how much I've given up, community and fellowship-wise, by being an atheist. I miss that shivery, magical feeling of the midnight service, but I don't believe and there it is.
At any rate, that's what my thoughts are this eve.I wish I had volunteered for some community service.....I'd feel happier and less selfish and lonely. Ah well......
6. Sad...
that is my feeling, I miss my mother and my aunt who died a few years ago. I always miss them but Christmas makes it worse. :-(
7. I'm starting not to like Christmas any more.
Particularly given the drama that I went through a couple of weeks ago with my now ex-girlfriend. Plus, there's no snow, because I'm in Arizona. I'm used to snow on Christmas, so this is kind of weird.
I'm getting a guitar for Christmas - and I'm thinking I'm going to learn a bunch of sad songs and play them a lot.
