Do you bend over pages

Bending pages. Lemme at 'em. Let. me. at. 'em.

I Hate that. Hate it hate it hate it. Makes me see red.

I also hate when people lay an open book facedown to save their place. BOOKMARKS, people.

15. Never
If I loan a book to someone who does it, they will never get another one from me.

Bookmarks, or even scraps of paper, are your friend. :)

17. No - I grab some random piece of paper for a book-mark.
The most commonly used are rail tickets which work absolutely wonderfully.

19. Never to just mark my place
and never if it doesn't belong to me.

But on books I own and to mark passages I might wish to find again, sure.

21. Christ, no. Only philistines do that.
I always use a bookmark. A decently-bound book printed on fairly good paper will outlast the owner. My library will outlive me, and the books will still be in good condition for whoever gets them after.

unless it's a mail-order cataloger

I always use a piece of paper or my business card as a book-mark instead of damaging a book.

23. Depends on the book
If it's a book that I know I want to keep forever, and one I want to keep in good condition, then I use bookmarks. If it's a textbook, or a paperback that isn't particularly nicely made, then I don't really care as much. I like books, but I like them for what's inside them. I don't feel the need to treat them like sacred objects of worship, generally. (Though I respect people who do) :D

25. Things you should NEVER use as bookmarks
Plastic
Metal
Acidic paper
Cloth with no pH balance
Threads
Brads
Staples
Pins

The original bookmarks were strips of leather.

Want a pH balanced, attractive leather page cuff?

IM me with your mailing address, and I'll send you one.
I sell them for $5, but I have some extras (about a dozen-- free for DUers).
I'll even eat the shipping if you promise not to dog ear your books.

I think you'll really like them.
