I think I have mumps.
Swollen up saliva glands, sore throat, headache, fever. Yep, mumps. Now how did I get this? I haven't exchanged infected saliva with anyone in over a year, I don't share cups, and I was supposedly vaccinated for this when I was teeny. Grump grump grump. Mumps.

1. you can get it twice
i did

so i assume that there is a slim chance that those who were vaccinated can also get it

fortunately the second time is quite mild, you'll be over it in no time, i was (but i did see a doctor and get his opinion, i didn't just sit at home and go oh crikey i've got the mumps AGAIN)

my case was actually so mild the second time i took no medicine, just did the looksee w. the doctor to make sure that's what it was

i actually went hiking within a couple days of diagnosis

3. I had it as a child
Thanks to my anti-vax mother I got every childhood disease going. :eyes:

It's not nice, I empathise. Please seek advice from a healthcare professional. http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=255

4. Putting my two cents in...that sounds like it could be mono as well.
Please see a doctor. Mono sucks. I had it when I was pregnant with my daughter. I couldn't even lift my arms off the bed I was that tired. Take care!

5. I hope not
From what I hear, you don't wanna get mumps as an adult if you're a guy. I heard it makes your balls swell and become so painful you can't sit down.

6. If you had the vaccine before the 90's, forget it
Even during and after the 90's, you still have a 10-15% chance... as per my Mom the pediatric nurse. I'm 41. I'm doomed if I ever come into direct contact with the damned germies...

Mumps are very, very, very painful, so you may have something else.

7. Something in the tonsils, not mumps.
Thanks for the advice, ladies and gentlemen. Went to McKillme, the campus health center yesterday, and got prodded and poked and medicined up.
