What was your first DU Post??
topic: Any ideas on why Clark fizzled? from general discussion Politics
Sun Feb-08-04 07:26 AM
Response to Original message
85. The Media fizzled Clark

Kerry will end up getting the nod and then suprise new polls will come out with a kerry bush matchup showing Kerry loosing to Bush.
The damn media sold us our candidate and we bought it Why Because The Average American blindly follows and rarely ask themselves What if??
I like Kerry Although I am a Staunch Clarkie.
And yes I will vote for anyone who gets the nod.
Kerry just doesnt warm my heart like Clark Does.
Although i have to admit Teresa Heinz would make a great first lady.
Yet so would Gert
p.s. this is my first post here

29. I've been here in Germany
since March of 2001 - I never thought I would ever come to Germany . I met a guy , fell in love with him - but now I am about to come home . Once I started learning the language , everything became so much better . I was here in 2000 for 6 months and knew none of the language . I came back in 2001 ( March ) and began gradually to learn the language . Its not as hard as I thought but I am no expert .I am in the Hanover area .I am 23 by the way .

I was here on September 11 and it was a very ackward emotional feeling of not being able to hug my love ones - I can not wait until I do that . When all the Anti-Iraq War protests started happening all over Europe I did not feel offended at all because I knew they were against the Bush Regime and not Americans . My mom did not want me to go protesting because of our theories that the CIA is watching every American overseas . When the war started there was a dramatic contrast between the coverage CNN International and German Stations were showing compared to what MSNBC showed during its coverage . FOX NEWS was here for a while after September 11 but it was gone 4 months later . What a pity ...I think everyone if given the chance should spend time overseas . My whole viewpoint has changed . The news that we see in America is just so small compared so what is shown here . And of course no one likes Smirk here either . The Europeans are more aware of what is happening in the States than most Americans are . They please us to vote him out of office .

1. Find someone who is worthy of your love .

You are not a yo-yo . She can't wind you up and play with you whenever she needs joy . Don't waste your time .

I just thought that was interesting

Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 06:39 AM by buddhamama
the thread author was claiming that the Founding Fathers intended the U.S. to be a Christian Nation.
That was in May 2001. I'd have to scour the old boards to try and find it.

15. hot rhetoric? where?

Dean called the GOP a pary of MOSTLY White Christian men, prove that statement false? Rove called liberals, supporters of Terrorism essentially, that we wanted to cuddle, and put them through therapy. Ha, their rhetoric is hot, LW side, the rheteroic is their, but its like throwing tennis balls at a steel plate, and the RW side is throwign down right lies, and we stand there and take it. I"m glad someone stood up against this baffoon today, i hope he apologizes...but, he won't...later, Don.

***************

I do think I remember this one...I think it was when Howard Dean accussed the GOP of being a WASP party essentially, and then Rove comes out and says Dems are terrorist coddlers...and demanded that Dean apologize. My main point was, Dean said something true, and Rove said a down right lie, and yet, the main attention is focused on Dean's comment...making a mt out of a mole hill, while Rove's stream of "lies" gets a pass...

23. My first post
In the Lounge, response to Things that always make you laugh:

"Can't get fooled again"

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

I thought this to be sort of an appropriate first post (long time lurker/learner, new poster).

Everytime I see the stupid look on his face when he realizes that he's just screwed himself again (I can't wait to see that look in November).

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=1786893#1786980

sparkles? I prefer a more traditional lemonade myself...

My preferences, in this order:
Columbia Gorge Organic (nicely tart)
Purity Organic (smooth, but not oversweet, has a little lemon pulp in it)
Santa Cruz Organic (a little bit too sweet, IMO, but still good)
Odwalla (tart and good, but pricey for a conventional juice, the other options are all cheaper)

All are good with chips and salsa or some cold pasta salad for a light lunch. I'll also have them with a lemon cookie (I like sunflour bakery but I think this is a local thing)but that may be too lemony and sweet a combo for some.

Sorry to offer my first post on a fluff thread but how often do I get to discuss my vice? :)

6. Its been tried, thats why the secondary issues....

Are getting attention. Remember the weak debates last year? All the debates Kerry hammered Bush on all the mistakes that have been made in Iraq and on the war on terror, in those three debates Kerry hammered him hard, and look what happened? A lost election. What i think Dean and others are trying to do is find an issue/topic that will get people interested in listening...They tried the War in Iraq, and it didn't work out, i don't know why it didn't but it failed... Not that i don't agree with you though, i think the War in Iraq and the loss of our troops lives should be a topic at every function that Dean and others conduct...cause believe it our not, we are at War, and that should have our attention...but instead, most of all the attention is on American Idol or some other mindless reality show...

Grass Roots is hard to do, i'm stuck in Missouri and i have tried talking about issues, and they usually all end in yelling, and spitting in my face, its hard to do, grass roots is rough...but its a necessary tool. In my mind repition is key, keep pounding the War in Iraq, the mistakes, the no wmd, and issues like that, but in most cases its a lost cause, most republicans i, get yelled at by, usually respond by saying "I'm so tired of hearing about No WMD". and i'm like shit man, its the main reason why we entered into War, and it doesn't concern you? Again, the Republican base.....
**************************

When I first got on DU I was a GD/Homepage discussion junkie....I think it took me about 6 months or so before I started coming into the lounge. I sorta got burned out in GD because of....well, in all honesty, it was the Tookie Williams/Death Penalty stuff that wore me out, so I found the lounge and have been down here consistantly since...January at least...:)

all they have to do is advanced search for that date and thier username and then check post times for the first one. Since your join date doesn't show up I suppose you'd have to guess it and then narrow it down from there.

The FIRST thread I started was earlier that day:

About a poll on *'s Iraq handling.
