Awright, dammit, enough is ENOUGH.
It's so freaking hot out, a person can't even jump into the shower to cool down- all the "cold" water in the pipes is warm!

I for one cannot WAIT for autumn. I long for the cool Indiana evenings of long ago, when it would get down into the sixties after dark. The dew would settle so heavily upon the late evening grass my shoes and socks would get soaked in just a few moments. The air was cool and sweet, and life was good.

Now, thirty five years later in Texas, the grass and shrubbery is all burned brown, there are huge cracks in the topsoil, and the only moisture I see always seems to be in that tiny cloud just at the horizon. (Not to mention the sweat I break out into five minutes into my evening walkies with Lady, the wonder Lab.)

(Speaking of Lady, her one female pup is so strong, that after less than three months of age she can jump and completely clear a lawn chair. Her trainer of 20 years experience says she's never seen anything CLOSE to that kind of strength in a Lab pup!)

Iced peach tea to cool you down for the evening, folks? Have one on me (better yet, put it down my back so I can cool off a bit!!!).

1. Yeah, its like that here in Ohio tonight
But you probably don't miss the long, icy, snowy winters when you don't see the sun for weeks. Does that help cool you off a little?

2. Actually, yes I DO miss winter.
I moved south because winter is hell on arthritic bones, but I always loved snow. I've been through many a blizzard, and don't recall it ever hurting me all that much to do a bit of shovelling in the aftermath!
