Terl from Battlefield Earth is a Scientologist
Shocking, I know.

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to enjoy that movie again after uncovering this dirty little secret. Such a damned shame.

1. And, if we're talking about the same actor, some say he's gay.
I haven't seen "Battlefield Earth" in its entirity (only the first 10 minutes), but I know who's in the movie.

2. Um. Are we talking about John Travolta?
He's a known $cientologist.

Known Scientologists include:
Tom Cruise

Also, Battlefield Earth was from L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of $cientology.

3. I just read Battlefield Earth
And I came away with a stange desire to get my personality tested.

Seriously, I bought it on a whim at the airport (it was two bucks on the cheapie rack), and I couldn't put it down util I got through all 1500 pages. Even though it's sort of goofy (Johnny Goodboy Tyler?), it's very well crafted. It was straightforward science fiction, without a trace of indocrinary messages (unless you count a weird prejudice against mondern architecture). The movie doesn't come close to doing it justice.

6. Actually, it follows Scientology doctrine very closely . . .

If you know Scientology that is.

Their primary enemy by L. Ron Hubbards teachings is the psychological profession (Psyclos get it?).

At higher levels, they are taught that people are infested with the spirits of ancient alien creatures known as "Thetans," etc.

I recommend doing some research at places like http://www.xenu.net/ (formerly clambake.org as a jab at L. Ron Hubbards assertion that all mankind is descended from bivalve creatures, i.e. clams)(or search the net for Xemu or Xenu) The whole Battlefield Earth story follows Scientology pretty closely.

Don't get me wrong, they can believe whatever they want, but personally I find it comical.

8. Good point.
I don't know scientology. It may be better that way.

4. Very old news
It's been public knowledge for at least 10 years.

And why should his Scientology beliefs prevent you from enjoying his acting ability?

Are you going to stop watching Broken Arrow? Or Pulp Fiction? Or Get Shorty? Etc.?

How about Tom Cruise, another Scientologist?

Are you going to never watch Top Gun? The Last Samurai? Minority Report? Mission Impossible? Etc.?

Sorry, but that seems pretty silly and petty to me.

5. To clarify
This was meant as a light-hearted spoof of the "Gimli is a white supremacist" thread.
