Well, Mr Skunk is feeling better. I opened the shed very early this
morning, and there he was, having a drink of the water I left him. So I left the door open and a couple of minutes later he strolled off on his merry way.

So no rabies, or he wouldn't have been able to drink. And he was walking fine.

I think he was just tuckered out from having been trapped in the shed for a couple of days. Just needed a little liquid refreshment to get him going.

2. That's good. I wonder if he is your patio buddy.
I had regular skunk visitations for a few years. Every evening, usually when we were eating on the patio, the critter just ambled across the lawn about 15 feet away from us as if he were the family pet. Freaked out our guests some times. :D

7. I don't think so. This one was smaller, I think. My "patio buddy"
is pretty rotund.

Yes, isn't it funny how people will freak about a little old skunk just minding his business? You'd think it was GRIZ in the yard, for god's sake.

3. Great to hear!
I followed the odyssey of your skunk on the thread last night, and hoped it'd turn out alright. I actually saw my first live skunk two days ago. :)

6. I once accidentally combined a skunk

What a smell, the skin came out the straw walkers (hind end) of the combine, everything else ended up atomized.

Then I was milking the cow one morning, sleepily leaning my head into her side, noticed there was a barn cat eating the scraps we put out for them, umm, that's a weird looking cat, Oh.

I milked, the skunk ate, no problems.

9. They're pretty mellow, as long as you don't run them through the
machinery. That ticks them off.

I'm so glad he's OK. Sounds like it was a young skunk out on its own for the first time.
