1. MacAllan
Kathy says that's the best. And she went to look at the bottle, saying "Scotch that good should not be misspelled."

Me? Cuervo Gold, please.

Sorry... I can down my Cuervo, but Scotch just seems like something to start a bonfire with. <ducks>

5. depends on the recommendation of the distiller
some suggest a spot of water in the glass, some don't.

:-)

But whatever they say, scotch - always single malt - is always good neat.

But I vary my method.

7. With a splash
This may draw many of the same posters that had opinions on my "whats your favorite scotch brand" thread a week or two ago.

I cannot afford the single malts too often, when I do it's either neat or on the rocks. The real way to sip a single malt is neat. Most of the time I am forced into the intermediate priced blends and for those it is "on the rocks, splash of water. NO FRUIT!!!"

11. no category for soda? jeez!
I guess scotch and milk is out of the question than too.

But all scotches need a teeny splash of water to bring out the flavor. Try it at home! Sip without, then with a splash. MUCH bigger flavor!

28. A lady with taste!
However, a splash of water REALLY changes the taste of some brands, particularly the peatier scotches.

Not that I'll try it with my Irish, mind you....

20. With honey and herbs
Drambeui (wrong spelling, I mix up the name of the drink with the NetBEUI networking protocol...)

Or Napalm Death, which is Scotch mixed with a lot of lovely things... I recall reading it and liking the mixture, but I've never had it... might be for the best.

the single-malts are a bit much for me. My husband likes his Glenfiddich neat, with a water chaser.
