To kiss or not to kiss : that is the question.
How long does one wait while dating someone to give the first kiss. Maybe it was the heat or him laying his head in my lap while we sitting in the park - maybe I am just silly. I have been seeing this guy for over 3 weeks now and he is a keeper. Only thing is that I want to make sure that I really like him before I start something longterm. I gave him a kiss on the cheek as he got out of my car and went to his car. I feel completely comfortable with him. He is a gentle person. And I think he entered my life for a reason - ok time to take my meds.

8. I'm not one to ask.
I have two speeds- immediately or never.
When I know I want something, I go for it. If they don't do it for me, nothing's ever going to happen, so it's done.

9. Hell, I've never kissed a soul, but if he rested his head in your lap...
...then I say, "Whatchoo waitin' on, girl?"

Some of us would pay big bucks to be able to give someone even a cheek peck. ;)

11. Kiss him
He wants to kiss you; maybe he's worried you're not into him. Life is too short not to kiss someone you care for, as often as you can. It's one of the great joys of being alive! :loveya:

The only New Year's resolution that my husband and I have ever succeeded in keeping was Newsweek's insistence that we should all make out more in 2006. I almost forgot how much I love to kiss ;-).

13. I just told myself the next time that I get the feeling ...
I am going to just do it. I really like the guy, I am just too shy to admit it. We were riding in my car today and I was in the passenger seat feeling comfortable with him behind my wheel. I felt protected. He is such a gentleman. I like him , I really do. I am such a scaredy cat.

23. Ah. He's a gentleman.
>I am such a scaredy cat.<

Somehow, I'm thinking that if you give him the slightest little kiss, he'll take it from there. :loveya:

In the spirit of the thread, here's another one of my favorites:

Midsummer

You loved me for a little,
Who could not love me long'
You gave me wings of gladness
And lent my spirit song.
You loved me for an hour
But only with your eyes;
Your lips I could not capture
By storm or by surprise.

Your mouth that I remember
With rush of sudden pain
As one remembers starlight
Or roses after rain...

Out of a world of laughter
Suddenly I am sad...
Day and night it haunts me,
The kiss I never had.

- Sydney King Russell

I got this poem scrawled on a piece of notebook paper from a guy I dated a long, long time ago. It was framed and hung in my room for years afterwards.

14. Speaking as a guy, I'm kind of amazed that you've been "seeing"
each other for 3 WEEKS without so much as a smooch.

Has it been explicitly stated at some point that the two of you are "just friends"?

Most males of normal hormones and even average sensibility will try for a smooch in the first week, if they are interested...unless the dreaded "friends only" label has been applied.

and he has said many times that he hopes that we grow into being a couple. I am just being silly because I want to be sure - its hard to explain.

16. Well, I painted my wifes toenails on our first date....
...I think a kiss was in there somewhere, too....

But don't worry to much, it usually happens spontaneously...like painting toenails....;-)

18. well, in my experience, not to long...
with my wife, it was the first date actually...we spent the whole day together, than dinner, than a bar/dance place...than a little kiss kiss...:)

With my other relationships, in truth, we kissed on the first date, all the time...I cannot remember a case, when I had a first date, that didn't end in a kiss...:)

In your case, I think you waited long enough...give him some sugar...:P :toast:

19. "Well, a woman who kisses on the very first date
is usally a hussy. And a woman who kisses on the 2nd time around.
is anything but fusses. But a woman who waits til the third time around
head in the clouds, feet on the ground, she's the girl he's glad he found, she is his shipoopee."

Or should that be schmoopy?

"Well, she walked up to me
and she asked me if I wanted to dance.
She looked kinda nice and so I said,
'I might take a chance'
and when we danced she held me tight
and when I walked her home that night
all the stars were shining bright
and then she kissed me...."

22. Listen to Louie!
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by

And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

26. More than three weeks without a kiss?
Next time you see him, just grab him by the back of the head and kiss him.

Otherwise, this relationship might just fall into that platonic routine where so much times passes by, that you no longer see each other as anything other than friends.

28. Ahem. You have stirred the English major in me:
To His Coy Mistress

HAD we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, Lady, were no crime
We would sit down and think which way
To walk and pass our long love's day.
Thou by the Indian Ganges' side
Shouldst rubies find: I by the tide
Of Humber would complain. I would
Love you ten years before the Flood,
And you should, if you please, refuse
Till the conversion of the Jews.
My vegetable love should grow
Vaster than empires, and more slow;
An hundred years should go to praise
Thine eyes and on thy forehead gaze;
Two hundred to adore each breast,
But thirty thousand to the rest;
An age at least to every part,
And the last age should show your heart.
For, Lady, you deserve this state,
Nor would I love at lower rate.
But at my back I always hear
Time's wingèd chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie
Deserts of vast eternity.
Thy beauty shall no more be found,
Nor, in thy marble vault, shall sound
My echoing song: then worms shall try
That long preserved virginity,
And your quaint honour turn to dust,
And into ashes all my lust:
The grave 's a fine and private place,
But none, I think, do there embrace.
Now therefore, while the youthful hue
Sits on thy skin like morning dew,
And while thy willing soul transpires
At every pore with instant fires,
Now let us sport us while we may,
And now, like amorous birds of prey,
Rather at once our time devour
Than languish in his slow-chapt power.
Let us roll all our strength and all
Our sweetness up into one ball,
And tear our pleasures with rough strife
Thorough the iron gates of life:
Thus, though we cannot make our sun
Stand still, yet we will make him run.
