Argh! They messed up my order and now I have nothing to eat.
I went to go get take out and arrived at my usual place about 5 mins after they closed. So I called my sister and she suggested another place up the road a bit. It's in a hairy neighborhood but I was hungry.

So I get over there, make her order and mine, get our food and head home.

Then I open the bag. Somehow my veggie burrito no cheese (vegan, allergic) no sour cream (ditto) no guac (allergic) has a fat glob of sour cream and guacamole in the middle of it and my chips and salsa are covered in cheese. Who the fuck puts cheese on chips and salsa? There's no fucking way I'm driving back over there, the road was crawling with cops because that street is a known stroll.

I hate fasting against my will. :grr:

3. It's still too hot to cook.
(We have no AC and it's at least 85 in the house even with the windows open.)

5. Sadly I am out of hummus and a bit light on greenery at the moment
I have a couple of cukes I think I'll cut up. :) I don't know how filling that will be but at least it's cool.

12. Oh, but a cucumber sandwich isn't bad.
Would be better with tomatoes interspersed with the cuke slices, but still...as long as you have mayo (or an analog thereof), you're golden.

17. I have the grapeseed oil kind, which is pretty nice.
I caught my sister putting some on her sandwich the other day. She likes my earth balance too.

It's funny watching her sneak them.

24. That's really funny that she sneaks them!
Would you invite her to share them openly, or would that get too expensive if you did?

27. I'd be happy to share
I offer her food all the time but she usually declines. She did declare the dairy-free ice cream tasty though.

20. Cucumber sandwiches. Very British.
Bike rides in the English countryside with a bag of cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches for a picnic lunch. Life can be good.

Now, being a vegan, mayo is no longer in my vocabulary. Have you tried Smart Balance mayonnaise. Not bad really. Yet, Julia Child's words still haunt me. "no fat, no taste"

:)

23. Ha! secret vegan handshake!

It took the rude awakening of cardiac arrest (11 years ago) to make me a vegan and 180 my life style (why just do it when you can overdo it!). You're blessed with the wisdom sooner than I got it. Keep the smile in your life!

13. No, the house is too hot.
I don't want to make it worse, I'm still sweating.

85 or so is fairly hot for a few minutes before midnight.

7. I've had more than one time when people have effed up my order
So now my friends make fun of me because I carefully enunciate my orders to help make sure there is no confusion or "unheard" parts of the order. So far it has worked.

9. I think the error occured when the counter kid relayed the order to the
cook. I think the "no" part got dropped in the translation or the cook didn't hear it.

18. That has to be frustrating
I tend to check take-out orders before leaving just in case. It saves annoyance upon getting home.

Somehow it mutated into "throw cheese on everything" when I wasn't looking. :eyes:

Sacramento is pretty big, but I live out in the burbs and most places close earlier than that.
