That's a very good thing to invest a little money in.

I finally convinced LeftyKid's Dad to get a good bike after a long line of crappy ones. He has a Marin now and he'd never give it up. I'm a bit jealous of it, it's much lighter than my bike is.

47. My favorite part is the Diamond Back chain ring.........

It's actually a BMX chain ring with the same bolt circle
as a triple chain ring crank and is compatible with narrow
MTB chains.

It is a very rare BMX component from the early eighties.
I found it in a box of parts at the back of a bike shop
where I worked. At the time the smallest big ring you
could get for a triple crank was 48 T.

I've had it for fifteen years and wore out three Sedis
Chains with it and the Chain ring still takes new chains without
skipping.

Plus I bent it twice off road and straightened it with a
rock ON THE BIKE and kept on riding. Gotta love that!

46. I'm not shocked, actually.
I know that NYC isn't wall to wall concrete. I bet some of the places to bike are pretty cool. Certainly, Central Park is!

48. Hurrah and YAYS.
Sounds wonderful.

Not sure that I'd like to cycle around a city like N.Y. myself, but I'm sure that you look irresistable in the tight cycling shorts.
