Finally watched "War of the Worlds".. What a P.O.S. movie
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 04:59 AM by SoCalDem
That little girl was so annoying.. I think I would have fed her to the monsters at the earliest opportunity..

Even the special effects were contrived and just plain STUPID..

What a waste of 1:15...:)

1. I'm a Spielberg fan, but this one really sucked.

2. Thanks for the warning.
I've been debating renting this for some time now.

3. I loved this movie.
It was the first DVD I ever bought.

4. Part of the problem with that movie......
both the new version and the old, is the story--it has no second act. The aliens show up and start wrecking havoc, then they're defeated.

This new version tried to fill the gap in the middle with stuff about the Cruise characters family, I didn't give a rip about.

5. To insert a little humor here
Has anyone seen the War of the Worlds version that came out at about the same time, straight to DVD release with C. Thomas Howell and Jake Busey(I think). OMG it was sooo bad it eventually became good. Bad effects, bad dialog, wooden acting, it hit a trifecta.

On the other topic, I have not seen Tom Cruise's WotW. I refuse to see any of his movies now after his destructive rants about therapy and psychotropic meds.
