what's your opinion on laminated wall hangings
I saw a poster I like, but I can't really get it framed (It's way too big) I do however have the option to have it laminated.

Do you guys think that will look tacky? or at the very least more tacky than just having a large unframed poster on the wall?

1. you can get anything framed.
that's what custom and.or do-it-yourself frame shops are for.

you can have anything framed.

If you absolutely can't get it framed, I would eschew the tackiness of lamination and just mount it directly to the wall. Or, even if money is tight, you could have it attached to acid free backing board at a framing place (exactly what they would do with it if you were having them frame it), and then attach it to the wall. That will give it a little bit of depth (1/16"-1/2" depending on what you want), making it look better on the wall, and also will make it totally flat, which will make it look much better, as well as protect it from folding and creasing.

Then, whenever you have the money, you can have it framed.

But I would not laminate - it looks bad, it doesn't protect the poster (though if it's not a valuable one, that doesn't matter), and lamination is also really f-ing shiny and it will always piss you off when you look at it that you will have one spot in the room, that will likely require you to be on your knees, in order to see it without any glare.

5. Actually I think it would look nice raised
like block style. Then it would look ok laminated.

7. Yes
I'm not sure what they call that but its mounted
just the way a canvas looks and then laminated.

I have two like that in my basement but I bought
them from a gallery like that.
