My Las Vegas Vacation
Las Vegas is truly a unique American experience, one that I highly recommend for everyone to experience. Las Vegas shows us the true American character and culture. We are not a Christian based nation. We are a money-based nation. We worship and love money, and Vegas is our temple. It's a truly remarkable place.

Also, it seemed like everyone in America was there with their kids. The same America that freaked out over Janet Jackson's exposed breast at the Superbowl had no problem walking their kids past smoking gamblers and flyers for escort services.

I stayed at the Palms, which is way, way over-hyped. If you've been watching "The Sopranos" this season, then you know about AJ's nightclubbing habits. Well, the Palms has about 1,000 AJs running around there.

My list of the best hotels/casinos:

Mandalay Bay
Caesar's Palace
The Venetion
The Belagio
The Luxor

All of these hotels had a some sense of style and some elegance. You don't mind losing your money there because they put the money back into the casino

These worst hotels/casinos. They were just tacky and over-run with people:

New York, New York
MGM Grand
The Aladdin
Treasure Island

I didn't see the following hotels, Paris, Hard Rock Cafe, and The Mirage.

I was in LV last November for the first time in 8 years and wow has it changed. I absolutely love Vegas. It's a total surreal experience.

This time around we stayed at Bally's, which is a pretty decent hotel. We were upgraded to a suite for no extra charge (rock da house!) The great thing about Ballly's is they had a S'Barros in the mall underneath the hotel. Which is great if your frugal (read: cheap) like me and don't want to spend $40 on a buffet.

We spent most of our time in Caesers as that's where our friends were staying. That is an amazing place.
We also spent time in New York New York which was probably the most fun of all the hotels. A lot of 30 somethings just out having a good time.

Also got to see U2 at the MGM - woo!

I can't wait to go back down. It's going to be a yearly thing from now on

Great nick by the way!

We renewed our vows for our 5th anniversary at the same place in 2004, it was right before the election. The minister is a HUGE Bush fan, I wanted to smack him.

3. we went last september and went on a show-seeing spree.
Edited on Tue May-30-06 06:29 PM by QuestionAll
"O" RULES! we waited in the cancellation line, and ended up with 3rd row..."wet" seats! my god- WHAT a gorgeous show- when we go back, we'll see it again.

Mystere is second only to "O"

Avenue Q was another GREAT experience- we had second row, over to the right, but the seats in front of us were empty...the show was a lot of fun.

Penn & Teller unfortunately sucked ass- but the amazing jonathon didn't.

Zumanity was ok- not as risque as perhaps expected, and definitely a much smaller scale than O or Mystere- but still a good time.

if you're there on your birthday, the todai sushi buffet in the alladin's sucky mall is a great deal.

we're not gamblers, so i wouldn't know about that.

8. There was definitely something "missing" when we were there...
the casinoes seemed so...flat(?)
then i realized it- none of the hotels use coins for payouts on the slots anymore, so there's no "ting, ting, ting ,ting... sound permeating the casinoes.
some of them use little speakers to try and imitate the sound- but it isn't the same.

i remember that years ago, they tried replacing the metal trays with plastic ones- but people loved the sound of the coins hitting the metal trays, and they were brought back quick.

i guess they've finally decided that the coins are more trouble than they're worth...it's a shame, because i liked collecting the different dollar coins...and they used to be great for tipping cab drivers and such.

9. The Best Thing About Vegas Is That...
You can craft your own vacation. You can go just to gamble, or just shows, or just hanging out at the pools or lounges, or dancing, or whatever. There's a million things to do, almost too much to do.

10. I like the Hard Rock...the casino is small and the cocktail
waitresses are hot!! The pool at the Hard Rock is quite an experience, as well.

I like The Orleans. It is off the strip, kind of "out of the way", and they have a lot of Pai Gow tables (which I love!).

I also like to play Pai-Gow at Barnaby Coast; the cocktail waitresses are awesome and they serve a mean Bloody Mary!

12. The Best Part About The Luxor
is that it's also connected to Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur. So, it's easy to jump to another casino or lounge.

13. When I went, I stayed at the Venetian...
and I was quite pleased with my accommodations there...the Wynn and Belagio also looked very nice but a bit to rich for my blood. The Hard Rock was cool, it was off the strip and the casino floor was pretty small but I liked its relaxed atmosphere, that and it wasn't crawling with tourists.

I had so much fun there, I honestly can't wait to go back

17. We went to Vegas for our honeymoon.
We stayed at the Luxor in a jacuzzi suite and loved it! We also toured all the hotels, and decided that we liked the Venetian the best and would try to stay there the next time we went. We've been talking about trying to get back there for a year and a half now. Maybe if the chimp's economy gets a little better we can start saving up for another Vegas vacation. Right now all our extra cash is going to inflation and the natural gas bill. :-(

18. The best hotel is the Stardust. I'm sad to see it go and hope to go once
more before she's gone. Still retained the sense of "old Vegas" with modern rooms and every luxury. Take the new hotels and flush 'em down the toilet. The Stardust will always be the best in my mind. I can't believe they're closing.

and the Stardust is the only thing left that has that nostalgia of old vegas...the rest of them are Disneyland.

And speaking of Disneyland....everyone dresses like they are there...in the old days it was glamorous... furs, jewelry. I miss it.

*I* was scared in there :scared:

Vegas is a trip. The buildings are just mindboggling and the free porn on the streets is hilarious. We were there what 2 years ago and I thought I would go over to the massive newspaper rack to see what the headlines were

:wow:

IT wasn't newspapers!!!
