Does ANYONE care about Madonna's little stunts anymore?

Look everybody, I've reinvented myself. I'm on the cross. Whoo-wee! I'm still young, I do pilates! Look at me!

Madonna's giant cross 'offensive'

The Church of England has criticised Madonna's appearance on a cross to kick off her latest tour in Los Angeles.
"Why would someone with so much talent seem to feel the need to promote herself by offending so many people?" said the church in a statement.

Madonna performed the ballad Live To Tell while suspended from a giant mirrored cross on the opening night.

David Muir of the Evangelical Alliance also accused the singer of "blatant insensitivity".

I accuse her of blatant desperation.

1. I like Madonna. She's one of few pop artists who are actually artists.
And she's still hot, too!

2. I don't dislike her per se...
...but her little stunts lost their shock value (if they ever had any) in about 1992. Whether or not her stringy frame is still "hot" or not is a matter of taste, but the only way she could shock me at this point would be if she started to dress elegantly and learned how to really sing.

But boy, those churches do go for the bait, every time, don't they? Never fails. I wonder if the publicity still helps to sell tickets & records, though...

7. In 1989, for that video, it was great. Now it's not just reinvention,
it's something that makes "reinvention" special by comparison.

Of course, an Evangelical calling others "insensitive" is riotously funny.

10. Jeez, she debuted in 1983.
To think of all the writhing in wedding dresses and wearing of conical brassieres she's done over the decades, and you've appreciated none of it? For shame.

:nopity:

18. and she wasn't interesting then
she was never interesting, she could never sing, she never had a pretty face

she had an ok body and a tireless gift for self-promotion

that's it

she was the britney spears of her day and i think she has acknowledged as such

she's for the stupid people, let them have her, they may actually still be amused by her antics

17. she's almost 50, it's sad
but it's equally as sad when the male dinosaurs try to get attention doing stupid things like marrying one legged models

:-)

19. Never did..
... I love shock value but I like there to be something behind it. Madonna is one of a cadre of "artists" whose only talent was to push the envelope. I suppose there is some value in that, but no matter how good a songwriter someone is, if they sing to cheesy crap music then I'm gone :)

No wonder your children are confused about things, Madonna. :eyes:
