Poll question: Which pre-school children's TV show would you cancel?
Well there's too many TV shows to name... I picked a few of the more irritating ones - at least the ones I find irritating. My colleague at work hates Dora the Explorer, mainly because she wakes up to it after falling asleep to Nick at Nite. And she doesn't have kids!

I have a 3 year old son, he's hooked on The Wonder Pets right now. It's like being on drugs, he can't get enough. Other people have cited Barney, the Teletubbies, and others. One of my wife's cousins wishes that Diego should just go.

Thoughts? Mark.

1. I'm not sure
I know they're annoying as hell but they're kids' shows. I do have to say, though, that Dora the Explorer freaks me out with those gigantic, unblinking eyes of hers

4. Another vote for Barney
The kids on that show act like they're on stimulants, completely unnatural. Give me Sesame Street any day. Or even Dragon Tales or Clifford--at least the kids on those shows sound like human beings.

5. My older son loves the Wonder Pets also.
He sings the stupid song constantly. I can't stand The Doodlebops. Miffy gets to me also.

6. Caillou
The damned kid's a whiner. I have son who's almost 5. I refuse to let him watch it as it makes him whine too. Hell. I'll take Barney or Teletubbies over that.

7. "Sesame Street is brought to you by a grant ...from No Child Left Behind"
Actually what they say is:

"Sesame Street is brought to you by a Department of Education grant from No Child Left Behind"

Complete with a No Child Left Behind logo.

You can't miss it. I just thought you should know the free advertisement NCLB gets everyday.

8. While the baby-talking duck annoys me to no end ....
along with his guinea pig friend in the Wonder Pets; and while the Doodle Bops seem to be on some sort of heavy duty psychodelic drug; I have to vote to ban Barney above all others.

I can stomach Wonder Pets and Doodle Bops (I even occasionally get the "Get On The Bus" ear worm), but Barney makes me want to puke within about 20 seconds of watching it.

9. I'd vote Barney. Of course, my youngest children are 4 ands 6..
so they've pretty much outgrown Barney anyway. Thankfully, they've also outgrown Teletubbies (long ago) and Caillou.

They don't watch that much TV, though. I let them watch videos, so they aren't constantly exposed to a barrage of commercials, and they are allowed to watch PBS Sprout for shows like Angelina Ballerina and Kipper.

Both of them love the Wiggles, and that's fine with me. It gets them up and singing and dancing - and there's not a whole lot cuter than two little kids singing and dancing along to the music. Much better than vegging out.

10. I hate to say this because
I really should like a show that features human children looking out for animals, but jesus horace christ did they have to use such annoying voices for Go Diego Go? Every time my kid watches that show I want to stab my own eardrums out with an icepick, because the only thing worse than the sound of Rosie Perez talking is the sound of Rosie Perez using some high pitched singsong tone she must think appeals to children, oh and singing. :scared: Baby Jaguar's voice (on Dora the Explorer he just makes meowing noises, on Go Diego Go! he talks) gets on my last nerve too.

12. I bought a Barney pinata for a baby shower once.
That is how much I hate Barney. Every mom got to take a turn whacking the crap out of that stupid purple dinosaur.

14. My daughter outgrew Barney a decade ago, but I still
consider it in a class by itself as the worst kid show ever. Annoying as hell, with terrible, grating child "actors" so cloying and phony that you want to reach into the tv screen and throttle em.

16. Nice theme song though
Good folk-harmony. Berenstain Bears' is original too.

Okay, I gotta quit hanging around KayTot. I shouldn't know this much about these theme songs.

17. I do like the music
I used to be somewhat embarrassed that I still like kid TV, despite not having kids myself. But you know what? I do find it relaxing. So there! to all the naysayers.

18. So why is Dragon Tales creepy?
I've never really paid much attention to it, just noticed the folksy theme song, and that KayTot likes it, and that the kids act sorta normal (unlike the kids on Barney :scared:).

the voices they use are a bit Barney-like. Ugh.

20. Oh, I think that's the dragon that's a bit dim
But for some reason his voice doesn't creep me out the way Barney's does.

(Okay I'll admit it. I did hear the plot of one episode while assembling a bookcase. But. Only. One. You hear?)

(Okay, I BOUGHT THE BOX SET AND I HAVE EVERY EPISODE MEMORIZED! I WATCH THEM AFTER SHE'S GONE TO SLEEP! I CAN'T HELP MYSELF!!)

It's your avatar, see? I just don't hold up well under bright lights :P
