Anyone else ever make themselves pass out?
We used to do this all the time in the girls locker room in high school as a way to get out of PE.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEcas9l4rck

I think if my daughter ever does it I'll kick her ass. I have a small scar on my thigh from hitting a metal bench once and cutting myself when I fell.

faint. Ah, childhood...

It did get me out of PE about ten times that year so it worked.

51. I am suprised that they didn't call your parents
And suggest that they take you to the doctor and get checked out after you did it a few times if not the first time. At my school, they were pretty proactive about that sort of thing.

53. Not my school.
Back before most kids had medical almost guaranteed by the state.

You just went to the office (no school nurse), they called your parents and you were given a couple of Tylenol and told to lie down on a cot until next period.

Passing out in the gym was common for a while-no air conditioning and no windows to open. We realized this and took advantage of it.

who I haven't really gotten to see much of since he's been working and is in high school. Going to be catching up on things since apparently he's going to be going to school in West Virginia this fall. May be calling some people up hwo I graduated with too since I was hugely busy with my first year of cmmm college.

7. They didn't make us dance after middle school
We had to do this really lame ass flag dance when I was like in 5th grade to the tune of Lee Greenwood's Proud to be an American, I don't mind songs like Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, etc but that song just drove me nuts when I had to do that lame dance to it. We did have to some dancing in middle school too but it was brief. High school gym was the best though because we never had to relearn the sport like we would in elementary school and middle school. I didn't llike gymnastics either btw I thought it wasn't needed. The team sports though were always fun.

Team sports usually got me benched for bad behavior. No way I was going to miss field hockey!

I really miss playing field hockey. That and lacrosse were my favorites in PE. Archery was cool too.

50. Nope.
Had to look real.

Suck in some deep breaths, cross your arms over your chest and have another girl wrap her arms around your chest, pressing tightly.

You pass out and the other girl yells for the coach. You begin to come to as the coach rushes into the room. Free pass from square dancing in PE.

52. That sounds awful! I am prone to vasovagal syncope...
I have occasional syncope events related to low blood sugar and sometimes to standing up too fast. I find the sensations extremely unpleasant: that feeling as the darkness goes over my vision and everything sounds like I'm underwater or in a tunnel just freaks me out.

55. Really, I preferred the square dancing, which at least wasn't dodgeball
We had square dancing lessons too. I am an utter klutz and don't dance well, no matter how much I try (I was in summer dance lessons, too, and still couldn't dance). Between a lack of sense of time, lack of sense of balance, and trouble telling where my body is in space, I am a hazard on the dance floor. Plus they always made me pair up with the shortest boy in class, who was named Tim and didn't like me and smelled funny. Yuck.

But at least it wasn't dodgeball. Dodgeball was scary because I was very small and could get knocked down by the balls, and my spatial relations issues made it hard for me to aim or to dodge.

Egads, how I hated gym!!
