Always wondered about the Shatner Star Trek-era pronunciation-- was that a Canadian thing or a '60s thing?

3. I had a professor who

said it the "normal" (Lennon) way, but he said "women" almost the same way. He did not say "wimmen" the way most people do.

Weird the first couple of times I heard him say it, since it sounded in context like the plural, but he was pronouncing it singular.
