Colbert is interviewing Teddy Roosevelt.
In "turn-of-the-century New York".

"Spanish-American War: Great War of Imperialism or Greatest War of Imperialism?"

bwhahahaha

Colbert is wearing a wig and old-fashioned glasses.

3. Colbert just kills me
That preview, where he said Roosevelt's decision not to shoot that bear was an "act of appeasement" and that later on, the bear shot Archduke Francis Ferdinand, starting WW1.

"Bully!"

5. And the sad thing is
Most Americans wouldn't get it.

Not only because they have no sense of irony, but because they don't know anything about history. Those people Jay meets when he walks the streets of LA come to mind.

They are missing out on the rich life of the mind.

6. If you saw the clip right before they went to commercial...
where the interviewed the two girls about the "Reagan Dime". They didn't have an opinion because they hadn't gotten there yet in their history class. I'd be surprised if they knew who the current president was.

7. exactly
I saw a clip earlier today for some idiot show that's coming up on MTV, and the lead character, a beauty queen who looked about 16, was being quizzed by her father, who claimed that she should be just as interested in brains as in beauty.

She didn't know who the CURRENT president was.

8. you have to wonder...
what these people will do when beauty no longer pays the bills? When I watch Jaywalking I feel like doing this :banghead: but it does explain why a man like George Bush could be elected president not once but twice!

9. Their lives must be so BORING.
And hollow.

I truly cannot imagine walking through the world every day and having no curiosity about it.
