4. Hi, Thomcat. A brief excerpt from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satie

. . . a French composer and pianist.

Satie also introduced himself as a "gymnopedist" (in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the Gymnopédies). He was a writer of articles for several periodicals, and referred to himself as a "phonometrograph"<1> or "phonometrician". Satie can be seen as a serial precursor, streets ahead of many 20th century avant-garde artistic ideas, see below.

He is best known as Erik Satie (he exchanged, from his first composition in 1884, the 'c' at the end of his first name for a 'k'). Although in later life he prided himself on always publishing his work under his own name, there appears to have been a brief period in the late 1880s in which he published articles under the pseudonym ‘Virginie Lebeau’.

. . .

5. Cool.
Thank you.

So, can I guess from this that his music was really good? :)

7. You've heard "Gymnopedies"
The moment you hear the melody, you know you've heard it your entire life.

2. He was a strange guy
That "Gymnopedies" is "furniture music" for the ages, though.

I haven't attempted Liona Boyd's guitar transcriptions. I'm probably not up to it.

10. I heard Gymnopedies on the radio this morning
I had to get up extra early, so it was a pleasant way to start the day.
