Nobody deserves rape as a punishment for thier crimes or for any other reason. The idea that rape is a punchline to a joke for so many DUers is both shocking and offensive.

By no means would I find an actual rape funny. I seem to have drifed into gallows humor. I do realize the damage that this protaganist to the entire Bush presidency and the administration has caused this country, though. I think that this administration will continue to do that damage, even when some of them are punished. I do not think a jail sentence would come soon enough for someone like Karl Rove.

It's just that when jokes are made about rape it detracts from it's realness and seriousness for those who are not survivors. To even joke that rape is a part of his justly deserved punishment seems grossly unfair in a world where rape really is used to punish women, sometimes for the percieved crimes of thier male relatives, both overseas and in some US subcultures.

Male rape is a constant source of amusement by professional "comedians" and social commentators in our society.

I understand why some people might find it funny, but it's up to masculists to try to end this kind of double-stgandard, and not by oppressing women to the same degree, but rather to elevate men above it.
