Chicago Weather....WTF?????
OK...so I look at weather.com before I leave sunny Cali and it says Chicago, ILL will be overcast, but 70-80, no rain. So I pack no jacket and just jeans, t shirts, dress slacks and dress shirts. I get here and for one day that's true - but then suddenly it starts raining like hell, wind gusts that knock me down and a temperature drop to 40-something. AND THIS IS MAY!!!!!

WTF????

Nice city, but is this place always that cold?????

1. Feeling it here in Cleveland too.
Windy, mid 50s and rain . . . today and ALL of next week.

Cleveland truly has NO Spring or Fall. It goes directly from 8 months of winter to summer, to winter again.

2. This is unusual weather.
No, it's not supposed to be this cold here. Not in May.

I wore my jacket when I went to work this morning and wish I had worn my coat, instead.

7. huh???
This is nothing unusual. One thing about Chicago is that the weather is consistently bad.

8. That's my take
No, I don't think it's supposed to be in the upper 40's in May. Or whatever the fuck it is right now.

14. You're right. Today's temp may break a record for this date.
That's according to Tom Skilling anyway.

10. The weather has been weird, here, too.
I had put on the A/C, but Tuesday and Wednesday, I needed to put on the heat to take the chill off the house.

Can't ever remember it being this cool this late in May.

Global warming, indeed! :sarcasm:

6. Welcome to Illinois!
In spring it's not uncommon to have the heater on 1 day and the A/C on the next.

9. Ah, Taverner, live and learn
In other parts of the country, it does rain in the summer months. And get chilly. It took me about four years to get used to the idea that here in the Bay Area, it doesn't rain between the months of about April to November. That was very odd to me. And yes, sometimes it's a damn cold rain.

Buy yourself a nice jacket with the Chicago skyline on it. :hi:

Where weather likes to keep you on your toes.

I'm in Milwaukee and I'm used to this kind of crap from the weather. I don't know that I'd call it typical, but it doesn't surprise me. I don't put anything past it. If it was a person, weather here would be a total jerk. See, it lulls you into this false sense of security when it's nice. "Oooh," you think. "Sun! A warm breeze! Buds on the trees! See you in hell, Winter Coat! See you in hell, Freezing Cold Wind!" You go to sleep under a light blanket with the window open and dream happy dreams and the next thing you know, you wake up in a tiny, shivering ball, cold wind whipping through your window, and you just want to cry because you know, (despite two-plus decades of experience and a vow not to let it happen this year), that once again this jerk tricked you. And it knows it.

The good thing is that it's the beginning of Spring and not the beginning of Winter so at least we'll get a week or two of pleasant weather before the 88 degrees plus humidity days start.

13. Chicago weather is not for the meek.
I actually think many Chicagoans get off on inclement weather. I do.

I mean, I like mild weather too, but sometimes there's nothing a like stiff, bracing wind in your face to make you feel alive.

15. While today's temp may break a record for this date, you should always
expect the unexpected in Chicago. We pretty much always have various weight jackets in the trunk of our car "just in case" the weather turns. And it often does, on a dime. And it's often vastly different temperatures from one part of town to another.

Sorry Taverner. If only you'd come here a few weeks back. Up until recently we've been having a gorgeous spring with lots of days that were perfectly sunny, the perfect temp and humidity, and the lightest of breezes.

BTW, I've always loved your sig pic. :)
