Especially at bars, where they just want to sit and enjoy their drinks, but you feel compelled to go stand too close to them and hit on them, even when you know damn well they are in a relationship?

He's never hooked up with a girl while sober. So, being a guy from a very male family, he thinks that if he gets drunk enough, it'll just happen.
He's messed up with some pretty cool girls because he drank too much around them.
It is a real shame, he's a great guy.
