And then someday you may be able to say, I met him before he was President.

7. Rolling farm country, beautiful lakeshore in the north
and river bluffs in the west. Very scenic bike trails across the state, nice people, good beer (Spotted Cow, Honey Weiss), the "Berkley of the North" aka Madison.

Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 04:08 PM by long_green
Wisconsin is where the American dream was bludgeoned to death with big wheel of Gouda. To know a Wisconsonian is to live in fear.

Wisconsonian sounds more sinister. Wisconsinite sounds too much like actual people from Wisconsin.

Being from Wisconsin I feel I have the right to say this
to you because you insulted me first. You not only are not right but you sound a little loony besides.

16. You thought I was serious? "Wisconsonians are mud people?"
Come on, now.
In all seriousness, everything I have ever heard about Wisconsin paints the same rosy picture described in all the serious posts in this thread.
The loony thing is correct, alas.

I knew you were not serious but I wanted to see if this would flame up.

Normally, I'd help w/ the flames but I can't this time. I can't think of anything really bad.

22. But xmas, that's why we must ATTACK.
We can't let monotonously decent people from a beautiful state get the upper hand here. We must all of us man the barricades of random and disproportionate hostility.

24. What about Knickerbocker beer. It's from Lacrosse, WI
With all of the microbrews up there some might turn up their nose but I remember drinking one brought down by a friend and I liked it. Is it a "good beer" or merely the Rainier of the Midwest?

I've been there many times and I always meet friendly people there. It also happens to be a blue state.

38. Sounds like I need to start in Milwaukee
Spend a few days there, head west to Madison for a couple days, then up to the Dells.

I don't hunt or fish, sorry. I can't stand the thought of killing another living being. But I'll admire the scenery.

Thanks all. If anything has been left out, keep the suggestions coming.

39. I've been to almost every state, and Wisconsin is most beautiful.
While it doesn't have the perfection of Hawaii or the giganticness of Alaska, which two states are probably the most beautiful in all of America, Wisconsin is tops for the lower 48.

And that's not to demean the many other amazing states - Wyoming, New York, Vermont, Maine, Missouri, Arizona, Washington, etc. But Wisconsin is a state that is perfectly and wondrously beautiful in every part of the state, except Beloit, and has many varied and different terrains.

And Wisconsin has some truly amazing things to offer - the bluffs along the Mississippi, the Carr Valley Cheese Shop in Mauston, the sheer beauty of the very northern part of the state, the Harley factory, the best bratwurst in the world, wildlife galore, more cranberries than you can shake a dead cat at...

Sigh.... tis a nice place, indeed.
