Too much death... :(
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 02:46 PM by ih8thegop
A few DUers have recently lost loved ones for various reasons. Senator Byrd's wife passed away yesterday; Senator Inouye's wife did the same a couple weeks ago. A family friend left us last week. And just this morning an IndyCar driver was killed.

I remember a couple years ago several people died in about a month's time: Kate Hepburn, Gregory Peck, David Brinkley, Strom Thurmond... not to mention one of my dogs.

Is it happening again?

2. I read somewhere that the winter holiday season
from Thanksgiving to New Years is a very heavy time for deaths--all that stress of family gatherings, I guess. But March seems to be the heavy hitter this year.

4. Winter takes a toll on the elderly
for some reason. The stress of staying warm, harsh weather. I don't know. An old saying around here is "let me make it 'til Easter." If you make it til Easter, you can likely be around for summer.

3. Death's all around.
As for the IndyCar driver, it's sad. But, if it wasn't dangerous anybody could do it.
He wanted to do it.

5. Death: the Great Common Denominator of us all.
the transient nature of our bodies hopefully wakes us up to what's REALLY important in life and, as well, the eternal nature of our souls.....

True Love NEVER dies, it just changes form.

6. Just in the last few months there have been a lot of people
I admired have died. It greatly saddens me, especially when it is someone young.

A few years back it seemed that a lot of my friends about my age seemed to be dropping like flies, about seven in the space of a couple of years. Life goes on and with time the pain of your loss gets less, not much of a comfort but it's certainly true in my case.

7. I lost an aunt on Saint Patrick's Day.
It's just the perception and nothing more.
