Should I take my son to V for Vendetta?
For anyone who has seen the movie, what do you think of the appropriateness for my 14 year old son? There are some R rated movies he has seen that I am perfectly fine with, while others I really don't want him to see. So what do you think?

2. I would say yes with one caveat
There are a handful of very visually disturbing scenes in the movie (shots of a mass grave, and some rather bloody slo-mo violence at the end). I'm a grown ass woman that is pretty desensitized to this stuff and *I* was kinda flinching in my seat.

I think the message of the film is worth it though, and those scenes aren't gratuituous.

3. Yes, take him.
The political implications of the film might be complicated for a 14 yr old, but they'd be an opening for great conversation!

4. I avoid violence for my kids...but I would say yes.
I thought the violence in this movie was very cartoonish and therefore not terribly disturbing.

There is a high body count and lots of fake blood.

But at 14, I would imagine, not knowing him, that he could handle it.

The message is important.

And it's a kick-ass movie.

5. I'm thinking back to when I was 14
I would have loved to have seen this movie, and I'm sure my parents wouldn't have had a problem with any of its content. The violence is pretty "comic book", and I don't even remember any bad language in the film.

There will probably need to be a parental "debriefing" with your son after the film, though. It's pretty heavy with political ideas, and V's methods are somewhat suspect.
