Winter is SO overrated!
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 01:42 PM by huskerlaw
So I'm back in sunny SoCal after spending 5 days in Nebraska. Any nostalgic-type thoughts I was having about snowy winter days have been effectively killed.

I saw sunlight for FIVE MINUTES in five days. It snowed for 3 days (and was really just getting started when I left). The temperature hovered around freezing, which wouldn't have been so bad if the wind hadn't been howling straight from the Yukon Territory.

Did I mention I almost got stuck there? Oh the horror. Seriously, as we were boarding the plane, the pilot told us all to hurry and sit down as the visibility was getting bad and he wasn't sure how much longer they'd let us take off. As soon as we were off the ground, I started questioning the decision. I fly a lot. It doesn't bother me. I was white-knuckling the arm rests. Scariest freaking takeoff I've ever experienced. Fucking wind sheers.

Thankfully, I'm back safe and sound in Los Angeles, where our idea of winter means the high temperatures in the 50s. To those of you stuck in the midwest today...what the fuck are you thinking? Move! ;)

2. I haven't seen
any large bugs since I moved here! A few regular sized ones...and quite a few tiny little ants. But nothing scary.

6. I'm sure they're around
but thankfully, I haven't seen 'em!

Meanwhile, doesn't Minnesota have mosquitos the size of your head?

5. Eaughhhyaghh! Yes!
I don't like things with pincers and stingers and claws. All bugs want to "get" me. Once, we had an enormouse spider on our patio, and I freaked out and tried to back away and get away from it and I SWEAR TO GOD it ran after me. :scared:  :scared:

8. We do NOT have anything like this in LA!
Really......this is a desert creature....

And even there you'd have to search to find one!

Sheesh......:eyes:

9. No searching needed at my house.
I've lived in my house for just over 5 yrs and have found and killed at least 60 of the nasty little critters. They are all over the southwest.

7. My dear huskerlaw!
Welcome home! I am so glad to hear you made it back, safe and sound!

I too do NOT know what in hell the midwesterners are thinking...

But we already have enough people here.......*sigh*

I'll just bet your kitties were glad to see you, too!

:loveya:

10. Thanks!
I barely made it back, damn snow!

Honestly, I didn't think the midwest was such a bad place to live until I left it. Did you know that everything there is the color of concrete right now? Seriously. The sky, the grass, the bare trees. Everything is grey! The snow actually added color. Ugh. It's a wonder I never slit my wrists.

The kitties are doing fine. I think they're pissed off though. Spencer won't come near me and spent the entire night creating as much noise as possible. Riley's more used to it, but he's pouting.
