Do you watch daytime TV?
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Older women who say talk shows and soap operas are their favorite TV programs tend to score more poorly on tests of memory, attention and other cognitive skills, researchers reported Monday.

I knew there was a reason I don't watch TV during the day!

1. That's surprising ...
Considering how convoluted the storylines on the soap operas can get, with dozens of characters coming and going, you'd think attention and memory would be important.

I can tell you that my elderly grandmother sure as hell remembers every little detail of her 'stories.' :D She can explain exactly what's going on and why!

3. I think that some people
watch the same soap operas and talk shows day after day--to the point that they don't watch anything else that could inform and enlighten them.

2. Well heck, their whole study could have been done by just paying
attention to the first word in the darned article. OLDER.

Gee, I hate to break it to the researchers, but when you get OLDER, your memory, attention and other cognitive skills kind of go down the proverbial toilet. ;) I'm only 49 and I ain't what I used to be in any of those areas. I can hardly wait to see what I'll be like at 80. Hahaha.

(I refuse to blame any of it on the fact that I watch The Young and the Restless.) ;)
