Well I can tell you that if there is a relationship, then an addiction of any kind is going to have problems 100% of the time.

Some may start acting out due to relationship problems, but an addiction, (not a feeling of guilt after viewing porn) is something that takes a life of it's own.

It is very serious, and there are many variations of sexual addiction. Addiction to porn is one that has exploded with the increasing use of the internet. That doesn't mean that people that view porn and feel guilt are addicted. If they view porn and feel bad, then DON'T DO IT!

But if you view porn, feel bad about it, keep doing anyway, over and over, despite efforts to stop, etc.

Then you have an addiction. Porn is usually only part of a sexual addiction, but sometimes it is the only defining characteristic of a sexual addiction.

Religious convictions may bring someone's threshold for feeling bad up higher (aka their "bottom" of their acting out) but just feeling guilt about viewing porn does not an addiction make.

Please think about this more carefully as there are thousands if not millions of individuals who truly suffer from sexual addictions and don't need their problems minimized by someone who just doesn't understand their problem

I have to tell you, if this "porn addiction" exists, then I haven't seen it. Yeah, I have some regular customers, most come in about every other week and take advantage of the 3 for $30.00 special. But how many people also watch that many hollywood videos on HBO, or rent at their local video store.

The few folks (and it's only a handfull) that comsumed more than 3 movies/week burn out on it and stop coming in, or only come in very infrequently now.

Is there even a magic number of hours/week that can tell you when someone is "addicted"? Whatever that number is, my guess is that you would find a bunch of people who are "addicted" to DU using that same criteria. Or "addicted" to shoping, video games, etc.

Lastly, using the "addiction" meme to cover all sorts of compulsive behavior only minimized the struggles of anyone who has had an actual substance abuse problem.

Bill Day, an independent film maker and all around great guy, called us back in February of 2002 and asked if he could hang around us for a few days and shoot some video for a project he was working on.
