I am the luckiest woman in the universe

There are days when I get wrapped up in the day to day minutia of my job, housework and other petty drama and I forget this. I have an amazing and brilliant child who makes me so proud it's almost painful. My baby sister has grown up to be a fine young woman. My parents love me and are there when I need them. I have a boyfriend who loves me and whose personality quirks and passions compliment my own seamlessly.

Life is pretty damned good. I should try harder to keep track of that fact.

waiting to feel another wave of nausea hit. No, really- I was wondering how in the hell you single moms cope with your children, when you're so sick you can't move!

I wish there were some secret to it but like anything relating to parenting, it's just a matter of doing the best I can under less-than-ideal circumstances. Usually if one of us doesn't feel well the other's a bit sick too, so I try to turn it into snuggle time and we hang out on the sofa with our water bottles, crackers and Star Trek DVDs. The hard part is when I'm sick and he feels fine, but that only happens once a year or so and I just have to trudge through as best as I can.
