1. I said "summer" because it's so glorious in the Northwest.
Dry heat, low-80s *sigh*.

8. Unless you live in the high desert portion of the Northwest...
make that dry heat, 90s-100s.

13. Those low-80s all summer would be just perfect.
Are your winters mild too?

21. Yes, they're pretty mild.
If you don't mind lots of grey days and drizzle/rain -- I mean lots! A typical winter day is probably about 48 to 54 degrees and overcast. Once in awhile we get a freakishly long stretch of daily rain -- like we just had in January, where it rained every day.

We'll get a handful of days each winter that are downright cold -- in the 30s say. Usually (I'm talking Portland/Willamette Valley) we'll get one or two light snowfalls per winter -- possibly 1 to 4 inches. We haven't really gotten a decent one this year, though.

34. No, I don't mind gray/drizzly winter days at all.
We get quite a few of those here too (Boise area), though the last two weeks have been unseasonably cold.

Followed by winter, then spring, then autumn.

3. Fall and spring
are almost equal to me. The newness of everything in the spring, when you can see progression from the dead of winter to the beauty and green of a new year is just too wonderful. It's like awakening from a long dream, and things are fresh and clean and a promise of life is blossoming.

Fall is beautiful in its colors and weather, but there is a sense of sadness at the same time--it is the end of "life" and the advent to a dark and cold time, and inspires melancholy of the spirit and loss of what "was" and will never be again--at least for six to eight months.

Winter is just too chilling for me now, and summer tends to wipe me out completely. I just can't take the heat anymore.

9. Summer
I really do like it when it's crazy hot here. The people who move here and then bitch about the heat can just go back to wherever it was they came from as far as I'm concerned, there's no sense crowding the place if they dodn't like it.

23. Do they have counties in Britain?
County listing is keeping a list of all the birds you've seen in each county. I'm still sort of new at at, but there are some people who are county listing FIENDS... 200 birds in all 58 counties in the state.

I've got 100 for 8 counties. Yay me!

And I thought all British people were cutthroat twitchers! x(

25. Yep, for sure
The nation is divided up into counties. Birdwatching is certainly a popular pursuit in this country, but not all of us are doing it. :)

39. Going to a ball game is one thing I *could* do alone
I have many times, as a sportswriter, and I find it relaxing to sit there with a scoresheet and notebook and really observe the game. 'Course, banter and camaraderie with other fans is a great part of the fun, too.

I don't think I could go to the movies alone, though, or to a concert or something, so I understand how you feel.

36. Autumn
The leaves are still green for a while, I take the kids to High School Football games, It's cold enough at night to have a fire, but still warm in the daytime, the last of the glorious fresh Vegetables are available while you're getting the best variety of Apples and Pears. You still get that feeling of new starts you got when you went to school. Halloween is a lot of fun and Thanksgiving is usually a blast, and Christmas is just around the corner.....

37. Winter
Yeah, it may seem weird to a lot of people to actually have winter as my favorite holiday, but you have to remember where I live. If I lived in a place that actually had a truly cold, long-lasting winter I might feel differently, but I don't know. Cold weather, once I'm out in it, just seem to improve my state of mind. So I'm sticking with winter, though if I lived in a colder place I'd probably favor fall.

41. Spring. My mood is usually best then.
In Wisconsin, winter is so dreary. My mood is usually pretty bad from late fall through winter. With the added warmth, daylight, and greenery my mood usually rebounds. I get out more and feel happier.
My mood does decrease a little in the summer though because it is too hot and I am temperature sensitive.
I am a little better then in early fall before my big winter descent.

:bounce: :woohoo:

it's also the season I was born in.

I've noticed that people tend to have as their favorite seasons the ones they were born in. Not always, of course, but more often than not.

Have you noticed that, by chance, as well?
