The Ultimate Liberal Challenge

This isn't the first paragraph of a flamefest; it's a CHALLENGE. Given the extraordinary animosity between so many Democrats and Greens, representatives of either tribe ought to have something powerful to say about the individual I'm about to name. Any Seattle-based Dems who consider themselves politically savvy should join me in sliming her. Seattle-based Greens should defend her - hopefully with facts and logic.

If you aren't from Seattle, hand in there: there are some lessons herein that are valuable for residents of big cities across America.

The person I have in mind is named Brita Butler-Wall. She's the most visible member of the Green Party of Seattle, which even the corrupt Seattle Times (which endorsed George W. Bush) has accused of aiding Republicans. (Truth in advertising: The preceding statement may be a little sloppy; perhaps the Times only repeated others' claims that the Green Party of Seattle is a Republican operative.)

Brita calls herself an activist, but her issues seem pretty much limited to fighting Coca Cola (and not accomplishing much in that arena to boot). She recently got elected to the Seattle School Board in a much publcized campaign. Brita had the gall to run on a "fiscal accountability" platform while she has done more than her share to fight AGAINST fiscal accountability in the past.

Another curious thing: Brita is also the head of Citizens' Campaign for Commercial-Free Schools (CCCS). The Green Party of Seattle and CCCS each claim to have several hundred members. Apparently, none of them have heard about the Internet. Look at their websites, and see if you can find any evidence of a track record supporting Brita Butler-Wall or any other Green Party whores. See what an extraordinary effort they've made to educate the public. You could accomplish pretty much the same by scribbling the words "Protect the Environment!" on a piece of styrofoam and letting it float down a river.

It will probably be at least a couple more weeks before I get all my data on the Green Party of Seattle online. In the meantime, I'd love to hear from any Seattleites who have enough backbone to either attack or defend Brita Butler-Wall. If you defend her, please explain how the general public can know she's on the level. It's hard when all you have to go on is a photograph and a pile of rhetoric. If you join me in attacking her, please note that she gets along with King County Democrats just fine. Do you think it's possible that Dems and Greens have united with Republicans in exploiting what were once "public" schools?
