Best place to blog?

I'd like to set up a half-dozen topic-specific blogs for my site. Is there any free place I would be allowed to have that many blogs, because I would prefer to use a single service (preferably one with a search function) so that all the blogs look and function the same way. (Mambo does make blogs but my host wants me to have 50 active users submitting articles before she installs that, so this is a quick fix until we get to that point.)
