My computer at home decided yesterday to die on me

I turned it off Sunday. When I wanted to come online yesterday after work, my computer didn't do anything. I tried by pulling the plugs - nada. Dead. I have to call the company today where I bought it. I am sure they can help me. Good thing it is a small company. I guess I have to take it to them after work today.

Hey, Honey!
Sorry about your computer! Hopefully the company will take care of the problem with little hassle and no money!

18. I like dealing with smaller "boutique" shops, that specifically make...
...computers per the specs you want. They usually are more attentive, and will take care of a problem. Sounds like that is your situation.

19. you got it right
they asked what I needed, what I planned to do with the computer (do I play games etc.) and with those informations they built my PC. And I can always call them when I have a problem.

21. That's what I like about it too....
...and I can call the company who built my PC, and if I have a problem, I can tie them up for hours, at no charge. If I was dealing with some major company, like HP, then I'd be having to pay some "technical expert" a lot of money to help out. I'm totally sold on "having your own to you specs", type situation

23. I just called them
I am going to bring them my PC today after work. Just talked to one of them. He says it sounds like the power supply unit.

20. "Nada" Sounds like the PSU
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 03:42 AM by Kellanved
In most other cases it will at least beep signalling the presence of an error. Has it diagnostic LEDs at the backside? Do they light up?

Anyway, should be covered by the guarantee, especially if you haven't upgraded your computer since then. It might take some convincing to get them to replace it, though. (you have the burden to prove that it's not your fault.).

Should it indeed be the PSU, try to get them to upgrade to a silent major-brand model - even if it costs a few Euros.

22. Just talked to them
the guy says it sounds like the power supply unit (Netzteil). I will bring them my PC today after work.

I didn't see any lights at the backside. But I didn't really look for them

I did upgrade my PC by putting in a CD-burner. But that was some months ago.

And I have to say the guys are really nice. All of them. I don't see a big problem with it.

25. Darn! I'm so sorry to hear that.
I'll try to avoid having any major crises while you're not around.
Sending a letter to Dear Abby or Playboy wouldn't do a bit of good.
I need you!

:hi:
