1. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

How's life treating you?

All's rather jolly here, though I was up a tad bit late this morning.

2. Good Morning, TJ!
:hi::hug:
Everything is great with me! Glad to hear all is jolly with you too! Waking up late happens to the best of us, so don't feel bad. I'm glad to hear from you today...I was wondering where the heck everybody was.

5. I'm not as busy as yesterday.
But I still have to make a pretence at working from time to time. :evilfrown:

At seven, when my radio came on, I was actually very awake and nearly got up then - but then I dozed until eight (when I normally intend to get up), but that didn't happen for another half hour.

Glad to hear that you're good today.

How are your pets getting along with each other now?

There's always a chance that animals won't get on, which would be a damn nuisance for you.

Are you just working today, or is there some excitement planned?

We're getting yet more fuss about politicians and gay-sex over here - my response (along with that of everybody I know) being somewhat :boring:

I thought people were a little more open minded about those things over there in England.

37. They are.
It's all to do with the Liberal Democrats (our third party, always claims it's on the verge of becoming the 2nd).

Their last leader resigned after admitting that he was an alcoholic, one of the candidates to replace him pulled out - then it was alleged that he'd had a 6 month long "relationship" with a gay prostitute. Nobody was bothered that he'd had sex with men, but there was lots of fuss because he is married and had advertised that in his leadership bid... It was more concerned with his dishonesty than anything else.

Then this morning the news had another leadership candidate admit that he's had gay as well as straight relationships in the past. I'm surprised that this is a story at all, personally. He's single, and in a couple of newspaper interviews recently has denied being gay.

The big irony is that the LibDems are easily the most pro-gay party. All three are basically open, but Labour and the Tories both still have an old-school reactionary element.

We are generally far more relaxed, Civil Partnerships went through without a fuss; all 3 parties have openly gay M.P.s; we've had 2 openly gay Cabinet ministers...for the vast majority here it's simply a non-issue.

41. Hmmm...interesting.
Too much ado is made of gay sex, in my opinion. What people do behind closed doors is no concern of anyone else's.

47. Well, indeed.
and it's usually ignored.

Peter Mandelson (currently a European Commissioner, formerly in the Cabinet - had to resign twice over various scandels) kept his sexuality quiet for ages, everybody knew, but nobody made a fuss. It only came out (to the wider public) by accident when a journalist (also gay) commented about it on Newsnight, thinking that everybody did know (not maliciously at all).

Chris Smith came out in the mid '80s (when it was definitely still an issue), but rose to be in the Cabinet for several years without any comment at all. Exactly as it should be. Interestingly recently he admitted that he's H.I.V.+, in an attempt to bring discussion of that more into the open.

It only tends to become an issue where there's hypocrasy involved (or bad attempts at dirty tricks).

59. Unfortunately the LibDems are very good at dirty tricks.
They have a strange reputation among the public for being the "nice" people....yet both Labour and Conservative activists all agree that they're the nastiest and dirtiest fighters. Hey ho, such is life.

I assume that you didn't mark Burns' Night yesterday?

74. Burns' Night is the anniversary of the birth of Rabbie Burns
Scotland's foremost poet - it is kept in Scotland (and by those with Scottish connections elsewhere) as a celebration of Scotland and Scottishness.

Hence eating haggis and drinking whisky. Both very very yummy indeed. :9

All is well here and I'm raring to go. I know what you all mean about working alone. That's why I go into work so early. No one bothers me. And . . . I can play what ever music I want in my office. Typically in the morning I've got Classical NPR and in the afternoon WBGO-Jazz out of Newark.

52. Good morning, Clint!
:hi: It's great to be here and see you this morning. The coffee is nearly ready, I've been swimming already, and then I have a dentist appointment!

How was your day off?

61. Well, we all do that sometimes.
Including me. Not wanting to get out of bed...especially when it's so warm and comfortable!

62. Good morning swimboy.
:hi:

I managed to hide my horns this morning under the hair. :P

Sounds like things are jolly for you - hope that the day goes very well indeed.

84. Hello, TJ!
 Did you like the horns? I'm toying with the idea of a tail.

It sounds like you are set to sail through your day. I am off this morning for an appointment at the dentist shortly and then the hyperboss is out again today so everyone breathes easier!

I am glad you enjoyed your haggis and whiskey. I had a bunch of Scottish great-great uncles with names like Duncan and Farquahar and my father's name is Ewen. They were all from Oban and Glenelg. I will probably try to visit the area someday.
