3. My last cat used to make sounds like that
when she was on the inside of the slider looking out at the birdfeeder and birds just on the outside of the glass. Drove her nuts!

4. What your seeing is frustration
and the cat vocally expressing his frustration. He wants to get the birds but knows that he can't.

6. Mine, too, though it's more of a chatter than a bark.
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 09:07 PM by ocelot
I think they chatter because they get their undies in a bunch (figuratively speaking) over wanting to pounce on the birds when they can't.

11. Dialup user, sorry.
I am replying just to let you know that I am still waiting for it to download. Also, in reply to the "chattering" responses. The reason a cat chatters when the watch birds (and bugs) is to charm them. They do it even if they are outside. Believe it or not, sometimes it actually works for them to get their prey. Just a little side note. I'm bookmarking this in case it doesn't download before my midnight bedtime. I'm allowing myself a break tonight from all the overstudying and overwork in school today. I had a bad day today. I needed DU for mah therapy, ya know.
