GO AWAY already.
GAH.

We're producting an issue with new software, and unfortunately they assigned the hardest-to-work-with designer to work with us. He is competent and has a good design aesthetic, and a nice enough guy, but he needs the most hand-holding. With most of our designers, we give them an idea of what the story is about (or they read it), and find appropriate artwork. With this one, it goes like this:

Me: "The story is about operations software."
Him: "So what do you want to illustrate it?"
Me: "Something computer-y would be fine."
Him: "Can you stand over me as I type keywords into the clip-art site?"
Me (knowing this will take 10000 years): "I have a meeting. This is a small illustration, so I'm not too picky. We're basically looking for an icon here."
Then, he'll hear "icon," and do a search for "icon," and end up showing me a picture of a religious statue. :eyes:

Plus, he over-explains everything. In a situation where I would shoot an e-mail that said: "We've found that setting the tracking to -X in Font Z looks better than the default, so let's go with that. Let me know if you need help" -- he comes over, explains the process by which this was determined, and shows me how to track, even though I can see the little box right on my screen.

I've seen more of this designer in the past 24 hours than I care to see in a normal month.

2. I understand your sitch, and it's frustrating as hell.
I'm a CAD drafter, so similar fields here. These guys are why we bring new drafters in as temps. Deadwood and energy thieves are weeded out. But during that evaluation time, if we pick up one of these, oh boy.

One manger came up with a little CAD test that is administered during the interview. If it can not be completed without a bunch of questions, that is an indication of an energy thief.

5. Neat. Sounds like loads of fun. You are a babysitter, right?

I think half the town is on standby idiot-mode today. (Though apparently this guy is most of the time).

*sigh*

And, I bet this charming young lad would get picked for jobs I want, too.
Sorry. I'm having a frustrating work day and while I was thinking of finding a new one earlier, this reminds me why I don't want to even bother looking right now.
