If you're in SF and craving MEAT. Red, red MEAT
Check out House of Prime Rib

I'll be there this weekend and can't wait!!!

Basically they have two things on the menu, Prime Rib or English Cut Prime Rib. They bring these big metal zeppelins out to your table, and carve the meat right off the side.

They give you gravy, creamed spinach, salad (with the most decadent dressing known to man), Yorkshire Pudding and a potato (mashed or whole.)

After you get your food it looks kinda like this

Yummmmm!

The place is stuck in time too - a reminder of the OLD San Francisco, the kind you saw in Bogie movies like the Maltese Falcon.

Prime Rib and a martini go together so well.....

3. Hey, a splurge every now then won't kill ya.
Plus, I go the gym 5 times a week so I don't have to eat sprouts and tofu every meal.

4. No I know :)
But everyone in California has to give that caveat with food like this...

"It's bad for you but...."

I think it's a law or something..

10. Does Chuy's count as real Tex-Mex?
I did love their food, and even tried the (yikes) Elvis Chile Verde...

12. Not really...I'm talking about places called Taqueria Arandinas #3.
Chuy's is Tex-Mex-ish. Very tasty, but not the real thing. I haven't been to Chuy's in a while. Hrmmmm...

11. There's a dish served in Houston Mexican & Vietnamese seafood places...
1) Split a large shrimp

2) Place cheese inside

3) Bind with a slice of bacon

4) Cover with breading

5) Deep Fry

(Repeat as necessary)

Definitely not for every day....

13. shouldn't that restaurant be here in Texas?
It certainly looks like a restaurant that belongs here...close...driving, no, walking distance from where I live. :D

On a side note, this is the second food thread we've been on today. You're a foodie too aren't you?

19. I might be :)
But yeah the restaraunt seems out of place in SF....unless you know a bit about the history of "the lady on the hill"

SF has always been a foodie foo paradise....it pretty much invented surf and turf. Seafood fresh from Fishermans Wharf, fresh Duck from the edge of the bay and what used to be a huge cattle industry in the Sacramento Valley. Add to that the wine industry and what used to be a huge hop industry and you can see why diners have always flocked to this city.

6. Try the prime rib french dip at the Embarcadero Houston's
It'll take 10 years off your life, with a 15% chance you'll die of clogged arteries after eating only half. But what a way to go.

21. Didja know that our Houston's is the only non-corporate one?
Ours has a different menu than the others. Or so I've heard. I have to admit I like Houston's. Their seared tuna was REALLY tasty.

22. I had no idea
I like Houston's too. The service is always great, the fish specials are great (I agree about the seared tuna) and I'm addicted to their spinach artichoke dip. Their prime rib isn't bad either ;)

Now I'm hungry. Damn.
