Counting-the-hours-til-the-next-to-the-last-CARNIVALE thread
I am hooked on Carnivale, although it seems to be very slow coming together. I am going to toss out a few questions and ideas, and would like your answers and opinions.

1) Justin's red-headed sister isn't his sister. She said on the last episode that she had taken care of him SINCE they arrived in America. Hmmmmm....so who was the little girl in Justin's river dream sequence? Could it have been (in my best Church Lady voice) Apollonia?

2) What's the deal with Lodz and Samson? Who is management? Who is Henry Scudder?

3) Is Sophie pregnant? What's the significance of that?

4) Who is Ben's father? Could it be that Apollonia is his mother, thus making him and Sophie siblings?

5) A prophet in her/his own house. WTF does that mean?

6) Is Jonesy's affair with the married stripper important in the central plot or is it just a soap-opera-ish addendum to keep us watching?

7) Personal opinion: I've been watching this thing since the first episode. If something HUGE doesn't happen tonight, and if all my questions aren't answered in this and the final episode, I will be one angry viewer. At the same time, the show is addictive--I not only watch it on Sunday night, but also enjoy watching the reruns throughout the week...you always see something or hear something that you passed off as inconsequential during the first viewing. I don't think a series has ever been so rich with symbolism as Carnivale. At the same time, since I know nothing about Tarot and little about biblical symbolism, I feel like an inadequate viewer...this show was created for a very high-brow crowd.

So, are you watching Carnivale tonight? Be glad when 6 Feet Under's new season starts! ;-)

1. From the Carnivale site Lodz had Samson's job and management
gave the job to Samson, Lodz wants the job back and it seems
he is trying to use Ben as a way to gain managements favor.
Rita Sue came from money on the East Coast, the family lost all their money and she became an entertainer and then a cooch dancer.
Apollonia was a seer on the east coast who was very famous, she was the only psychic that Houdini could not debunk, she became catatonic after Sophie's birth. All of this information is on the site on the Carnivale site on the internet. I love this show. I anxiously await tonights episode.

2. Do you think Apollonia is Justin's sister?
Alexi is his real name.

3. Did Justin live on the east coast? Henry Scudder is Ben's father, I wonder
if he is also Sophie's father. She is having visions too.
Maybe that is the tie in. I thought the prophet in your house was related to Apollonia and Sophie. Apollonia is a Greek name isn't it?
Whatever happens I am sure I will be surprised.

4. No, Justin is from Russia...
and imigrated through the east coast, as I am beginning to believe Apollonia did too.

I am wondering if Scudder is really Ben's father, or if that was allegorical.

The whole rape scene with Apollonia too...

5. Well, it's only the end of the first season....
According to the creators, Justin and Ben will not actually meet in the first season (and that's how he put it).

9. LOL! It's a Depression-era series on HBO.
It's really good...it made freak chic. LOL!

It's about a traveling carnival and has not so subtle undertones of the battle between good and evil, dark and light--there are tattoed men, bearded ladies, snake handlers, tarot readers, strippers, and carnies of all kinds!

It's a great series, Rowdy--as cosmopolitan as YOU are I was sure you knew about it! ;-)
