1. these days the ACLU and Habitat for Humanity's Katrina Fund
If someone knows somet other trustworthy places to donate to help out down south, I's love to hear about them.
After the Red Cross debacle, it's hard to know who to give to.

6. Habitat for Humanity
You can give to Katrina victims through HFHI (www.habitat.org) or look up your local affiliate and give a donation there. There is overwhelming need for decent housing everywhere in this country and around the world. I would never discourage someone from giving to the Katrina relief efforts, but also gently remind folks that fundraising for local Habitat groups (like other nonprofits) that aren't on the Gulf Coast has taken a real hit as many are diverting their charitable gifts to the hurricane relief efforts. A gift from a new donor, unsolicited, would be a real blessing to those working right there in your area!

7. I second that miss southlandshari!
Habit is doing wonderful things for the folks that lost their houses thanks to the hurricanes this year.

Also, there is the organization in my sig line too.

9. Diabetes Foundation, MS Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,
Susan G Komen Cancer, Heifer, Alzheimer's Association, my church's Christmas Fund Drive, and my Sunday School class's annual Christmas Auction Fund Raiser (we raise all our service project funds for the entire year with this fundraiser)

All except the church drives and Heifer are because of loved ones who have suffered from these diseases.

Oh yeah, my college Alumni Association, also.

And THIS year I am finally working for a matching funds company again so all my donations are doubled.

I donate to my local NPR and PBS stations but that is an ongoing thing, not a year end thing.

Can't wait to turn in all the year end statements to my employer so they can match them.
