I picked up my first deer of the season from the cutters today, 68 pounds of fine eating.

The second of the season was even bigger, and I'm getting some summer sausage made from that one.

My father used to hunt. I've had lots of deer meat in stews and jerky and I recall not what else.

I don't abstain form meat because I didn't find it tasty (although one loses their taste for the stuff fast when they don't eat it) I abstain because I find the consumption of our animal brethren abhorrent.

OK, Maybe it was a couple hundred sausages. Packed his arteries harder than any sausage, which I could understand. It's good stuff! In moderation. Feed it to your obnoxious inlaws, they'll never be able to convict. ;)

When I was teaching, the kids who skipped school for deer season had to bring me a pound of venison sausage!

One of my favorite things to do with it is to wrap biscuit dough around a chunks and bake them.
