A very recent post asked why threads are locked, instead of just removed. And... guess what - that thread is locked. In a matter of seconds, really.

Will I be banned, now, for raising this question?

But I realize I was asking a pretty stupid question. It only took a few DUer's to get me to a "duh!" moment.

7. I did not think it was stupid. It made sense

and I think the reason is so that others will not start a similar thread, will get the message.

Of course, it may depends on the nature of the thread and on the moderator. Though I thought that Skinner et al recently came with gentler DU where the moderator will use a velvet glove, not an iron one..
