Firefox question
Is there a way to configure Firefox to open links with "_blank" targets (links that open new windows) to open a new tab instead?

2. Plugins will do it...
I think TabMix plus will do it.

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Tabbed%20Browsing&numpg=10&id=1122

If not, one of the Firefox plugins for tabbed browsing ought to.

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Tabbed%20Browsing&numpg=10&id=1122

I have a few of the plugins and Firefox does open "_blank" targets in a new tab.

In the meantime, that plugin mentioned above did the trick.

6. Hold CTRL when you click on the link.

(Or maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking... Ctrl-click will open the link in a new tab.)

7. Well, yeah, there's that, also middle-clicking, but...
I want it so that I don't have to do anything special for it to open in the tab.

10. There is a new download for firefox
and all you have to do is click the wheel on the link and it opens a new tab.

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=158&application=firefox

Also, there is an adblock - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10&application=firefox

I highly recommend both.

11. I already had it set up to open links in a new tab with the wheel...
I specifically wanted links that were coded to open up new windows (links that contain target="_blank" in the tag) to open up in new tabs by default (without having to middle-click or ctrl-click).

And I would go insane without Adblock. I've been using it for a while now.
