6. That reminds me of a joke...
How do you tell if you're being chased by a brown bear or a grizzly bear?

Climb up a tree.

If the bear climbs up the tree and eats you...it was a brown bear.

If the bear knocks the tree over and eats you...it was a grizzy bear.

14. The Oldenburg is gorgeous too, and a good sport horse.
Other than Endurance racing, Arabs are mostly just pretty to look at anymore, I'm afraid. Although, when I was a little girl I used to fantasize about going to the Olympics on my dream Arabian stallion and winning the gold in three-day eventing...not likely, lol.

Your filly is absolutely beautiful. Hopefully I'll have some pics of my mares to post soon.

20. Thanks! Is your mare an Arabian? Arabs are so special & elemental
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 10:55 PM by CottonBear
They are one of the true sources of the modern horse. Cotton lives w/ 2 Tarpans, which may very well be the ancestors of the Arab.

I have ridden an Arabs and they are the most wonderful of equines! They are so elegant and beautiful. I may adopt an Arab mare nmaed Bitsy. Sheis a very nice horse who needs a home. Shemay live w/Cotton if they can get along w/ each other. Her person will give her to me when Cotton & I have our own (non-boarding) home.\

Let me know about your mare. There are quite a few of us DU horse people around here! What is her breed and how is she? I know she's your sweetpea like my Cotton!

edit: PS: My sig pic is Cotton's sire, Coromino!

19. Dogs
especially dogs that have been abused. I worked at a shelter for a few years (volunteer). I might have said "wolf" but I have never been lucky enough to spend time with a wolf. Dogs just steal my heart. I adopt female rotties, because no one wants them, and they are the most loyal, most beautiful, most amazing dogs ever.

35. Indricotherium
The Indricotherium, now extinct, is the largest mammal that ever walked the earth. It reached a height of about 23 feet (taller than a house) and weighed about 30 tons. An ancestor of the rhinoceros, it was about 8 times larger than the largest living rhino today.
